I have some friends who do food blogs, or at least blogs with food involved. My friend Scout does one called
"Little Things of Consequence". She does photography and is very good at taking pictures of food. There is something really captivating about a super-detailed picture of food. Not only do you see what it looks like and understand the color and texture, but you also anticipate the taste and smell. You don't get the same effect with pictures of birds and monkeys.
